Check Out: How Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Is Taking Over And What You Can Do About It

Reasons Why Your Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Won't Work

The Qashqai has a distinctly SUV feel to it thanks to its larger dimensions. Moreover, the 19-inch wheels on Ti and ST-L models may be a bit stiff at times. The front tyres of the Qashqai can also lose grip on bumpy surfaces, and the CVT could occasionally show wrist-flexing torque steering.

This is generally caused by a dead coin battery which is easily replaced in minutes. Make sure that the new battery is of the same size, voltage and specifications.

Water Damage

Water damage is among the most common causes for an Nissan keyfob to display the "key ID is incorrect" message. The key fob has rubber seals that protect the chip inside. However, prolonged exposure to moisture could cause it to stop working properly. It is common to observe this if your key fob has been dropped into the ocean or in a pool. But  replacement car key nissan qashqai  can also occur when it's wet from rain or soapy hands.

If your key fob is exposed to water for a lengthy period of time, it might need to be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol, or electronic cleaner. It may also require taking to an expert to repair or replace it.

If your key fob does require replacement, the procedure is relatively easy. First, make sure that you have a multipack of the right battery (CR2032 3V). The front and rear cases using the flat-head screwdriver. You'll need to take out the metal retaining clips and pull out the old battery, then replace it with the new one. Reassemble the fob and replace the mechanical key. Check to see if it functions properly. If it does not, you'll need to take it to an Nissan dealer or professional auto locksmith for replacement of the chip in the key. Fortunately, the chip is not usually damaged by water exposure and this shouldn't cost you a lot.

Dead Coin Battery

The coin battery is another frequent reason why your Nissan Qashqai remote key fob won't work. The batteries last for about 3 to 5 years, but they may fail over time if the fob has been dropped frequently. You can try replacing the battery with a new one, but be sure that it's the same size and voltage as the original. If you install a new battery, it could cause the key to be assigned a wrong key ID. This could prevent it from being connected to your vehicle.

The most effective method of changing the coin battery in a Nissan Qashqai Key Fob is to break it open using an incredibly small screwdriver. Push in the screwdriver in an angled notch on the bottom of the fob and move it around to separate the two parts of the key fob. Then, take out the old CR2025 button cell battery and replace it with an alternative one after taking note of its location on the fob.

Check the terminals for any dirt or water damage prior to installing the new battery. If so clean the terminals with the smallest amount of isopropylethanol. You'll also want to ensure that the pole cables are connected correctly. They should be connected to the positive and negative poles of the battery respectively.

Diagnostics of a fault

If your Nissan Qashqai key fob stops working after exposure to clean rain or tap water, it may be an indication of a chip issue inside. The battery replacement won't fix this, and you'll have to buy an entirely new key fob. If you dropped the key fob on the ground and it stopped working instantly it is likely because it has damaged the internal chip. If you clean the chip with isopropyl alcohol and paper towel, then replace it in the key fob, it is possible to generally get it working.

A common error that you may notice on the dashboard of your car is "Key ID Not Correct." This means that the vehicle cannot recognize the key fob, and will not allow it to start the engine. The issue can be caused by several things such as water damage, undetectable issues in the key fob's circuitry, or RFID interference.

The key fob won't work when the 12 volt batteries are not working or provide enough electric current. This could affect the Nissan Qashqai's keyless system, central locking and the ability to start the engine with the key fob. If you're unable to unlock or lock the door manually you must check the batteries in the key fob to make sure they're in good shape. You could also try re-inserting the battery to reset the transmitter.

Reprogramming

If the key fob is not been submerged in salt water, it should be able to be revived after a quick wash with clean water. You could also try cleaning the electronic chip using isopropyl ethanol or an electronic cleaner. If none of these work, it may be time to replace the entire key fob with an entirely new one.

If your Nissan Intelligent Key is still not working, there could be an issue with the connection between it and the car. Start by turning the ignition key but not starting the vehicle. Continue this process until you see the hazard lights flash twice. Then, turn off your vehicle and remove the key.

Next, open the fob compartment of your vehicle. It's usually located in a door jamb on the handle of the driver's side or under the armrest. Find the small "program" button and press it. You should hear a chime sound after the process is completed.

It's time to put your Intelligent Key to the test. You must stand a certain distance away from the vehicle, then press all the buttons on the key. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds, the key is successfully connected to the Nissan. You can also test it close to the Nissan.
